Within the Mexican communities, there are many problems concerning the social, the economic, the environmental and the urban. All of these stand for opportunities for the public and private sectors, the civil society and the faculty to work jointly on the proposal of sustainable and viable solutions.

Taking advantage of the capability and infrastructure of Tecnologico de Monterrey, the CEMEX-Tecnologico de Monterrey Center for the Development of Sustainable Communities seeks carrying out research on Mexican communities to build a model of sutainable community. Besides, it is creating parameters to measure the impact of the proposals before and after the Center’s intervention in the multisectorial projects in each one of the communities.

The applied research will be done through the “Development of Sustainable Communities” Chair. This Chair has its own research team made up of members from different fields to consider the matters of Sustainable Development by identifying the communities’ problems and propose viable and duplicating solutions.

The Chair’s axes are determined by the principles of Sustainable Development: the social, the economic and the environmental. Each one of these axes is approached through 16 research lines described in the section Chair.
