The worldwide growing culture of sustainability requires of exemplary projects in Mexico to enhance the inherent values of the new societies of the 21^st century to promote long-lasting development in the country.

The CEMEX-TEC Transforming Communities Award is granted annually to research and development of projects and initiatives of high impact in regard to sustainable development that foster the economic growth, technological transfer, social involvement of communities and preservation of the natural resources in Mexico.

The Award has nationwide coverage and is aimed at the public, private and academic sectors to promote the creation of innovative solutions that foster the development of communities and assure better quality of life of the civil society.
